It was owned by the French citizen Charles Seg\u00fan, and was attended by artists, politicians, tourists and wealthy people who came to drink, eat, dance and watch the shows, which were mainly tango-related.<br \/>Se inaugur\u00f3 en diciembre de 1924 y durante la d\u00e9cada del 30 tambi\u00e9n se lo llam\u00f3 \u00abVieux Paris\u00bb y su frente estaba decorado con un molino y detalles de Montmartre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br \/>El nombre del sitio est\u00e1 tomado del franc\u00e9s, una lengua que era sin\u00f3nimo de cultura entre los intelectuales y la clase adinerada del Buenos Aires de esa \u00e9poca, y significa \u201ccanta claro\u201d. On bandoneons were Pedro Laurenz and Pedro Maffia and on double bass Ruperto Thompson. De Caro alternated on gala evenings with an ensemble led by a young Juan D'Arienzo, thus contrasting two completely different rhythms and styles: De Caro, who favoured melody, and D'Arienzo, who was pure rhythm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br \/>The Chantecler was demolished in 1960 after being inactive for some time.
